Conventional solutions
Current COTS available battery systems, AC battery packs and hybrid inverters have productized this control and communication requirement to enable the solar energy to be smartly stored, consumed and releases as per the control configuration chosen by the customer through user interactive applications on mobile. The problem however is these solutions are expensive - very expensive indeed !
Hybrid inverter & batteries contains a dedicated DC/DC converter and closed end proprietary communication protocols - which makes them wasteful and thus expensive while also incompatible with most systems
The challenges of solar power are well known - they generate peak power when the sun shines brightly at the noon, but output is lower during morning and later afternoon hours. This variability in generation is opposite to the load profiles in a modern urban setting - peak demand occurs when sun is about to set. Therefore solar power needs to be stored which can then be used when energy becomes expensive in evening. Modern batteries can store lot of energy but they need to be integrated with smart electronics and grid communication system to know when to charge/discharge and how much.
